Closed handling
of solids
In the pharmaceutical and chemical industry it is common for sensitive products (such as certain pharmaceutical active ingredients or powdered chemicals) to be filled into drums and stored safely, or for drums to have to be emptied. High demands are usually placed here on process reliability, occupational safety and the avoidance of emissions.
With the innovative drum stations from rubitec ag, bulk materials can be processed reliably without endangering employees or product quality.

What is a „drum station“?
A drum station is a special containment system that allows drums to be filled or emptied under control, for example with powdered substances or granulates. Such systems are generally modular in design, completely closed and constructed so that the entire system can be sealed reliably. This makes them comfortable to operate and easy to integrate into existing production processes.
Drum stations are therefore used wherever bulk materials have to be processed safely and under control, especially in sensitive or regulated areas:
- Pharmaceutical industry: Closed processing of highly potent or contamination-sensitive active ingredients
- Chemical industry: Handling of toxic, reactive or heavily dusting substances
- Food processing: Gentle product transfer with high hygiene requirements
Plastics processing: Dosing and transferring of additives and granulated auxiliary materials - Integrated systems: Combination with further stations for a safe and uninterrupted process chain, from delivery through to further processing
Depending on process requirements, drum stations are often combined with other containment systems, for example with bag emptying stations for low-dust emptying of sacks, an R-PTS system for closed transfer into downstream equipment, or a special drum emptying station for liquids.
Full control: the advantages of the RUBITEC drum station
For drums to be emptied safely and cleanly, solutions are needed that fit reliably into existing processes. The containment solutions from rubitec ag meet exactly that requirement: they support controlled handling of bulk materials, make emptying drums easier and so ensure a smooth working day:
- Closed drum filling/drum emptying: Filling can be carried out in closed form using a continuous liner or the patented SmartDock system from rubitec ag for individual bags. Drum emptying takes place via the SmartDock, which is bolted to rubitec’s own glove box.
- Flexible use: Suitable for various drum sizes, solids and granulates.
- Ergonomic & safe: Height-adjustable working points and intuitive control for an easier working day. Control available as purely pneumatic or electro-pneumatic with safety PLC.
- Compatible with containment standards: GMP-compliant and with ATEX for hazardous (explosive) zones.
Thanks to their user-friendly construction, flexible adaptability to different processes and consistent protection against dust escape, our drum stations offer ideal conditions for closed drum filling and drum emptying and for safe, flexible and ergonomic handling of bulk materials. For smooth drum filling and emptying, our drum stations can also be combined with further components, for example our proven R-PTS.

FAQ on our drum stations
With closed emptying stations, the drum is docked to the glove box via the SmartDock, and sealing takes place via the inliner. Drums can therefore also be processed beforehand with a drum press, since the seal is not made via the drum itself.
Our systems are designed for powdered and granulated solids, for example active ingredients in the pharmaceutical industry, chemicals, additives or food ingredients. Extensions for liquid media are also possible where required.
Yes, the stations are built to customer specification and adapted to the processes and equipment on site. They can therefore be combined without difficulty with other containment systems such as bag emptying stations or transfer solutions (R-PTS).
Our drum stations comply with the applicable GMP guidelines and are also ATEX-compliant, making them ideal for potentially explosive areas. Our drum filling operations also reach up to OEB5 and emptying up to OEB6. This ensures maximum process and occupational safety.
